THE POLIZIOTTO IN THE DARK

Rossi, a poliziotto of the Italian police, normally looks after traffic offences. Suddenly he’s caught up in a mysterious new case: A man has been bludgeoned to death, and the culprit was seen fleeing into the synagogue in the old Jewish quarter where somehow, he disappeared. A second victim barely escapes with his life; poisonous rumours abound about the strange occurrences. If truth be told, Rossi is quite superstitious himself, yet he has deep misgivings about the supernatural explanations being bandied about. His investigation leads him to conclude that the crimes have a very rational, altogether human explanation. A Jewish demon terrorizing the town? What a load of rubbish, he thinks. This case is about old enemies and new money…
