There’s not much cause for celebration in Katenbüll. Even more so when one of the rare festivities comes to an abrupt, violent end: during the celebration marking the anniversary of the local shopping centre’s opening, a car speeds into the crowd. It belongs to an old acquaintance of Sörensen – his ex-colleague Malte Schuster. But it turns out Malte wasn’t behind the wheel. Soon after, the car is found crashed into a tree in the middle of the desolate North Frisian countryside; a woman’s dead body in the driver’s seat. Sörensen has his doubts about the whole incident, and these lead him, once again, down a dark road …

In language, atmosphere and overall, the ‘Sörensen’ series is the best that German crime writing has to offer these days.” Ursula Poznanski
