HOW I BECAME THE WORLD’S MOST GERMAN JEW

New Year’s Eve, 2015. A young Israeli is attacked by men shouting anti-Semitic slogans in Berlin’s underground. A media storm ensues, showing solidarity with the victim and the Israeli government advising him to come home. But Shahak Shapira carried on his resistance; racism is always bad, he maintains, regardless of whom it’s directed at. And, he says, he loves living in Berlin. Then all hell breaks loose, and newspapers all over the world pick up the story. Here shapira writes about his own life.
