Katja Haase was born in Jever in 1966. Her parents are from East Frisia, and she spent every summer there with her grandmother during her childhood. Despite many trips around the world, she is always drawn back to the North Sea. Today, she lives with her family in Hamburg and works as an author, translator, and editor. Her first novel, Ein Jahr hinterm Deich , was published in 2023.
