Betty Andrews is not only a famous Hollywood actress but also a successful children's book writer. While going through her grandmother's belongings, she discovers colorful drawings that would be perfect illustrations for her books. However, her grandmother refuses to talk about their origin, and all she knows is that the artist, E. Smith, lives in a village on the southwest coast of Scotland. Could it be Swinton-on-Sea? Betty receives an invitation to the village's Book Festival and decides to travel there to investigate. But as soon as she arrives, she is recognized by fans and finds herself being chased. Eliyah, a friendly bookstore owner, comes to her aid and takes her to his grandmother's B&B. As they dig deeper into the mystery of the artist, Betty and Eliyah grow closer. And when Eliyah makes a surprising discovery in the library, it becomes clear that his own tragic family history is closely linked to Betty's.
