It has been over a week since two skeletons were uncovered during a storm surge on the Darß. Detective Chief Inspector Tom Engelhardt and cryptologist Mascha Krieger have managed to solve a thirty-year-old case, but the identities of the two bodies found by the cliff are still unknown. A CD found with the remains hasn't been of much help so far.
Finally, the identity of the woman is determined through a ring. She supposedly emigrated to the USA years ago. Could her husband be responsible for her death? Was it a crime driven by jealousy, with the second victim being her lover? Before Mascha and Tom can confront the husband with their suspicions, he disappears without a trace. Then, Mascha finally cracks the files on the CD, and suddenly the entire case takes on a completely new perspective...
