  • 30,000 copies sold of Das Licht in den Wellen (Vol. I).

What does really matter in love, in happiness and in finding one's path in life?

Inge Martensen and her great-granddaughter Swantje have finally made it to New York! The city has changed since Inge first saw it as a young woman. Here, she spent a large part of her dazzling life, fell in love, and raised a family. She experienced moments of great joy - and great sorrow.

In the late 1970s, Inge’s life takes yet another surprising turn - and the North Frisian woman ends up, of all places, in Sicily. Perhaps for the first time in her hardworking life, Inge understands what it means to let go. A new lightness flows through her.

Yet she is drawn back to the two islands of her life: the small one in the middle of the North Sea and the large one on the other side of the Atlantic. Föhr and Manhattan. How can Inge ever choose between the two worlds her heart belongs to? And how can she help Swantje find her path in life?
