Understanding the migrant experience: from opportunity to exclusion.

People singing "Foreigners Out" at parties, politicians dismissing the national team as "not German enough," and parents too afraid of racist attacks to let their children walk to school alone – the rise of the far-right and their inhumane propaganda is evident not just in election results. What is life like for those directly affected by this hate?

Waslat Hasrat-Nazimi illustrates how daily life in a country once seen as a land of opportunity is now marked by fear and exclusion. She explores the resulting alienation, which leads to thoughts of emigration and even radicalization within parts of the migrant community. What measures can be taken to prevent further escalation? Waslat Hasrat-Nazimi collaborates with her interviewees – including Enissa Amani, Tupoka Ogette, Aileen Puhlmann, Said Etris Hashemi, Ferda Ataman, Lamya Kaddor, Kübra Gümüsay, Karim Fereidooni, Sawsan Chebli, and Emilia Roig – to address these questions.
