BUT WITH CREAM, PLEASE!

  • When Renate Bergmann opens a café, there will only be small pots served outside, cake like Grandma used to make, and plenty of nostalgic memories of youth.
  • The Online Grandma is an evergreen bestseller! Total circulation of Renate Bergmann: over 3 million copies.

Hand-brewed - that's how it truly tastes like Sunday!

Renate Bergmann has her hands full in her new home, Spreeweide. The retiree not only has a seat on the community council, but she is also in demand elsewhere.

Rebecca, the daughter of Mayor Brummer, wants to enlarge her café but doesn't have enough space. Brummer’s cousin, on the other hand, who runs the village pub, has too few guests. The inn used to be a bride school and is affectionately called the "Matchmaking Inn".

That, combined with Renate’s memories of her own time at the bride school, gives her an idea. Once learned, never forgotten, she thinks. She wants to merge the two - the pub and the café - solving all cost and space issues. And Renate wouldn’t be Renate if she didn't personally help brew the coffee and serve the cream cake!

Renate Bergmann

Renate Bergmann lives in Berlin. She helped clear bombing debris after WWII, worked for the East German state railway, is a household professional and a four-time widow. In 2013, she took to Twitter and began microblogging about her insights and exploits. Her books, meanwhile, have won over the analogue world. Torsten Rohde , born in 1974, studied business administration and worked as a financial controller. His Twitter account @RenateBergmann, in which he tweets about Renate’s exploits, became an internet phenomenon. His book Ich bin nicht süß. ich hab bloß Zucker , published under his pseudonym Renate Bergmann, was a phenomenal success, and was followed by many other successful books and reading tours.
