THE CITY OF THE ELECT

  • A gripping historical novel about ideals, reality, and love in the chaos.
  • The Anabaptists in Münster: A fight for freedom that breeds violence and terror.

1534: The Anabaptist movement is growing fast, offering hope and freedom from the strict rules of the church. Many desperate people join, but Maria, the Emperor’s sister, is determined to stop them.
She orders her bodyguard Jakob to find a girl who has joined the group. His search leads him to Münster, where the Anabaptists, led by their prophet Matthys, are waiting for the Last Judgment. Pretending to be a follower, Jakob stays with Andreas, a blacksmith and devoted believer.
As Matthys rules with fear and the bishop’s army surrounds the city, Jakob falls for Katharina, Andreas’s sister, who is starting to have doubts. When he learns the girl’s true identity, time is running out. Can he save her before the Anabaptists find out? And can Katharina stop her brother before the city is torn apart by violence?
