TRUTH BEGINS AS A COUPLE

A couple who later separated once told me: “All we really wanted was to be happy, but we couldn’t talk to each other.” For me, it was a swan song typical of today’s overstrained relationships.

Is there any chance at all of improving a relationship? I believe there is. Talking to one another is the basis for happy relationships. But how? The most important path is that of the substantive dialogue. This contains the fundamental insights gleaned from the psychoanalysis of couples’ relationships; it has also deeply impacted my own partnership.
