PORN – An Audacious Analysis

  • Everyone is watching, but no one is speaking: a book about a topic that deeply interests people but is rarely brought to the table.
  • A well-written invitation to deal with the subject in a non-judgemental way.

What we gain when we talk about pornography.

In the minute it takes you to read this text, approximately 100,000 people worldwide visit the website pornhub.com. About 85 percent of men and over a third of women in Germany consume pornography. They have become a part of our everyday culture while remaining a taboo subject. Fear, shame, and lack of knowledge hinder open dialogue, whether in private or public discussions.
This book aims to change that. It creates a space where talking and reflecting on pornography becomes possible. Without resorting to panic or sensationalism, but without holding back, it answers questions about what we do with pornography, what it does to us, and its place in our society.

Madita Oeming's long-awaited analysis of the present shows that we can approach pornography with both reflection and ease, and reveals what we gain when we finally talk about it – a political and personal, audacious book.

"Madita Oeming possesses a strong political determination and a convincing, captivating eloquence." Ijoma Mangold

"One of Germany's most prominent voices advocating for a more relaxed approach to pornography." Der Spiegel

"Madita Oeming's work changes the perspective on pornography." Die Zeit
