THE QUEEN OF SWEETS: MY CHILDHOOD IN A NEWSPAPER KIOSK

The way that newsreader Linda Zervakis looks into the nation’s living rooms is not dissimilar to the way she used to peer out of her parents’ newspaper kiosk when she was a little girl. She looked out at immigrants, people out of work, and the ones “who buy a schnapps for breakfast.” Linda was lucky, she went to a good school and was determined not to spend the rest of her life looking out of that kiosk. The rest is her story.
