Während ihre Freundinnen Kinder bekommen und Instagram eine einzige Happy-Wife-Happy-Life-Show zu sein scheint, sitzt Katharina in ihrer Wohnung und betäubt sich mit Arbeit und Trash-TV. Mit Ende dreißig hat sie sich arrangiert mit diesem recht ereignislosen Leben, in dem noch alles möglich ist.
Das zumindest glaubt sie, bis sie erfährt, dass sie keine Kinder mehr bekommen kann. Plötzlich fühlen sich die Nächte in Kneipen und die Tage am Schreibtisch nur noch sinnlos an. Dann nimmt sie eine ehrenamtliche Stelle in der Seniorenresidenz Sonnenhang an. Die Wochenenden bestehen nun aus Eierlikörschmuggel, Kniffeln und skurrilen, liebenswürdigen Begegnungen. Als die nächste große Entscheidung ansteht, muss Katharina sich fragen, was sie eigentlich will. Und ob sie nicht ganz unbemerkt schon längst gefunden hat, wonach sie so verzweifelt sucht.
