Sophie Wilde is one of London's most successful restaurant critics. However, when she goes through a personal crisis, she makes a critical mistake: at the long-awaited opening of model Annabelle Scott's restaurant. Sophie's scathing review of the restaurant – and Annabelle – sparks an unexpected social media storm. Her boss gives Sophie a timeout and holds her to her public claim that she could open a Michelin-star restaurant anywhere in the world: he sends her to Port Haven, a coastal village in Cornwall. 
Sophie, along with her mother and teenage daughter, quickly moves to the small harbor town and takes over the dilapidated Smugglers' Inn, along with its quirky staff, who are all skeptical of her attempt to establish high-end cuisine. The only bright spot is chef Lennox, who is as good-looking as he is skilled in the kitchen. But can Sophie create a gourmet destination under these circumstances?
