While searching for the wreck of a Viking ship, amateur divers off the Baltic Sea coast stumble upon a sunken sailboat – with the bodies of an entire family below deck. What first appears to be a tragic accident quickly turns out to be a brutal crime: all four victims were shot. Chief Inspector Tom Engelhardt cuts his vacation short to lead the investigation. As Tom delves into the case on the Darß peninsula, cryptologist Mascha Krieger is called to Anklam to decode a mysterious letter received by a young doctor on the day of her death. The special investigation unit is led –awkwardly – by her stepbrother Holger, complicating her work. Mascha soon uncovers that the doctor’s murder was driven by revenge. But who had a score to settle? Then, two more people are shot dead aboard a motor yacht on the Baltic Sea. The parallels to the family killing are undeniable.
Is Tom and his team hunting a serial killer?
