NO MONEY, NO HAPPINESS, NO GAS

  • 60,000 copies sold!
  • Hilarious, heartbreaking stories by Heinz Strunk, the master of the short story.
  • Es ist immer so schön mit dir and Ein Sommer in Niendorf were both nominated for the German Book Prize, sold 240,000 copies altogether and spent weeks on the Spiegel Bestseller List.
  • Rights to Ein Sommer in Niendorf were sold to Denmark (forlaget em).

Heinz Strunk invites us once again into a world full of wonder and laughter, despite being, on the whole, full of pain and chills. The story tells of strange illnesses, disturbing events in the neighboring house of a suburban neighborhood, and deeply miserable family tales and tragic love stories. A man is mocked after his death with an inscription on his tombstone, a woman only wants to have her nose reshaped but ends up with the wrong plastic surgeon, and at the fish buffet in a luxury resort in Maspalomas, retired couples wage war against each other in the off-season.

Heinz Strunk's world is dark and alien, yet deeply connected to our own reality.

"There is so much misery in the world. Heinz Strunk faithfully writes it down. It gets increasingly eerie." Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
