Heinz Strunk’s world is similar to ours in many ways. But in his books, the everyday is full of surprises, wonder and horror. The stories in this book tell of a senior citizens’ organisation called “Willingly Over the Cliff”, and of a road trip into prehistory. Three characters experience their own personal descents into hell: one is an expert appearing on a programme hosted by Markus Lanz, another is a farmer in the city, and the other is a tourist having a Thai massage on the beach. Some of the texts sound like newspaper reports, others resemble horror stories, others are in the form of letters, and one even features bullet points. But they are all original, funny, radical and unmistakably Heinz Strunk.
“The most exciting writer of contemporary German literature alive today.” Spiegel Online
“We, too, are just the hint of a hint. We’ve heard of such things. But I don’t know anyone else who can write like Strunk. Compelling, mysterious, funny.” Deutschlandfunk
