LORDS OF THE SEA

  • A thrilling and richly detailed adventure and seafaring novel.
  • Meet the legendary privateer Paul Beneke, who terrorized the North and Baltic Seas during the Hanseatic-English War.

Northern Europe, 1471. Amidst a fierce naval war between the Hanseatic League and England for control of the North Sea, young merchant Till Landers from Wismar joins the crew of the "Mariendrake", a privateer ship captained by the legendary Paul Beneke. Landers soon discovers that Beneke is driven by dark demons. Since losing his great love Margreta, Beneke has become a broken man, blaming Margreta's father, Danzig merchant Bernt Pawest, for her mysterious death. Now, Pawest commands the "Peter von Danzig", the largest warship of its time, heading to the North Sea to secure victory for the Hanse. Using cunning, Beneke seizes control of the "Peter von Danzig" and captures a legendary treasure in a spectacular naval battle: the "Last Judgment" triptych, commissioned by the Florentine Medici family. This invaluable painting also brings Beneke closer to unraveling the mystery of Margreta's fate.
