THE UNDERESTIMATED - Why Our Future Will Be Decided in the Countryside

  • What is behind the drifting apart of city and country?
  • An author with broad, practical expertise in both business and politics.
  • An important book that targets current debates and sheds new light on divisive issues like the energy transition, infrastructure development, mobility, and social justice.

It was clear long before the farmers paralyzed the streets with their tractors in 2024: the city and the country have drifted apart. We are in a culture war fueled primarily by frustration over a power imbalance: the city dictates how the country should be. But this division thrives on mutual clichés, and it is dangerous given current challenges - from food and energy security to demographic change and climate protection.

Andreas Möller refutes the narrative of economically and socially backward regions, making it clear: our future will be decided in the country, where vital resources are located and almost half of all Germans live. The country is neither "left behind," nor can structural change be solved through transformation rhetoric. Möller exposes a systemic imbalance that encompasses large parts of our economy and industry, and shows how many voices have been fatally overlooked in the debates about the "right" future.

A sharp analysis that demonstrates what must be done - and why serious communication is more necessary than ever.
