Henny has only one dream: she wants to study medicine – to out the unfulfilled longing of her mother, whom she never met. The path to becoming a doctor is hard for a woman in these times, but Henny is a fighter. When she falls in love with the young junior doctor Paul, her happiness seems complete. But then war breaks out and Paul is conscripted. Henny’s dreams burst; suddenly she is left with nothing – and has to fight to survive.
