BELLA STELLA

After the death of her parents, Stella finds herself stranded in Hamburg’s harbour district, wandering aimlessly around with no money, passing the prostitutes, day labourers and disabled war veterans.

Here in St Pauli she meets Lorenzo, a farm worker, who fled the fascists taking control of Italy. Lorenzo falls in love with Stella’s blue eyes and creates a star-shaped form of pasta in her honour. He manages to win Stella’s heart through his family recipes.

The couple go on to build a successful business based on simple noodle dishes. But when Lorenzo travels to Italy looking for new suppliers, Stella suspects that the price may be too high to pay…
