Bavaria, 1897: Antonia Pacher leaves her parents’ impoverished farm for Munich in the hope of earning some money. By chance she gets work at a brewery and soon finds herself in competition with other employees, the bar girls, brewery lads and master brewers. But Antonia refuses to give up and resolves to fight for her position at the company – and for the love of Melchior Bruckner, heir to the brewery.

But Melchior and his mother Franziska have their own battles to win, aiming for even greater success by gaining a prized license to sell beer at Oktoberfest. But the Bruckner family has enemies who have set treacherous intrigues in motion to destroy their family business...

is the synonym of a successful author of novels and non-fiction books. Born in Munich, she has always been fascinated by the many tales about her home city. And because Munich wouldn’t be Munich without the brewing industry, she felt it was time to write a story set at a brewery.
