Little Juni grows up in the 1950s on an airfield near New Orleans. There’s nothing this wild child enjoys more than tinkering around on planes with her stepfather. But Juni wants more; she wants to fly to the stars. Years later, as the world is engulfed in a heated race for supremacy in space, she gets a giant step closer to realising her dream. She and twelve other women are selected for a NASA astronaut training programme. A gruelling test regime begins that brings each of the women close to her breaking point. But Juni holds out to the end and attains excellent scores.
Her dream of journeying into space seems close to becoming reality when she hears the devastating news: none of the women will be allowed into space; men like John Glenn are to be sent up instead. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she also discovers that her whole life is based on a lie. Juni is crushed, but finally resolves to fight for the truth and her dreams…
